Scientology Volunteer Ministers Bring Their Yellow Tent to Bologna
Bologna's Piazza Lucio Dalla is hosting the travelling yellow tent of the Volunteer Ministers of Scientology, remaining in Piazza Lucio Dalla until 8 September.
Around 100 people attended the opening, including representatives of communities assisted by Volunteer Ministers after natural disasters.
Among them was Pianoro Mayor Luca Vecchiettini, who recalled the assistance provided following the 2024 floods. Restaurateur Fabrizio Lazzarini also recalled the Volunteer Ministers helping his business recover after the flooding.
Andrea Ferrarini, formerly involved with civil protection in Bondeno, also remembered assistance provided after the 2012 earthquakes.
The Volunteer Ministers programme was established in 1976 by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, the programme offers practical tools for communication, relationships and problem-solving alongside humanitarian response.
Inside the Bologna tent, visitors can explore photographic exhibits and information about the programme while learning about methods addressing communication, education, relationships and everyday challenges.
Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, eu news channel Council of Europe and UN, described the Bologna initiative as a reflection of the role citizens can play in strengthening their communities.
The Bologna exhibition highlights a programme that operates both in times of disaster and in everyday community life.
